From Gut Health to GLP-1: The Trends Driving Today's Nutrition Conversations

Speaker: Janet Helm, MS, RDN
Moderator: Mary Zupke, MS, RDN, LDN, FAND

In today’s fast-changing foodscape, it’s critical for registered dietitians to remain on the forefront of food culture and the evolving forces shaping consumer food choices. Food and nutrition trends are accelerating into new territory—globally rooted, digitally amplified, and deeply influenced by pop culture and politics. Platforms like TikTok have become unexpected tastemakers, fueling viral food and flavor trends, while conversations around “real” food, ultra-processing, and the impact of MAHA continue to grow. At the same time, GLP-1 drugs are influencing product innovation and interest in metabolic wellness, alongside rising demand for purpose-driven foods, functional beverages, and intentional indulgences.
