Jill Melton, MS, RD, new member of DBC, and long time member of FCP, announces her new cookbook Seasons & Celebrations. With beautiful color photography and graphics, it contains over 25 complete menus for every type of get-together. It’s the second cookbook for Relish magazine and Jill’s team.

 

Jill Melton is editor of Relish, the nation’s largest food magazine that celebrates America’s love of food.  Relish, based in Franklin, TN, launched in February 2006 and is distributed in over 800 newspapers nationwide to 16 million readers. Previously Jill spent 15 years in Birmingham, Alabama with Cooking Light Magazine.  During her tenure there, Jill was instrumental in guiding the editorial content and food style that made Cooking Light the country’s number one epicurean magazine.

Nancy Siler, MS, RD, LDN, CFCS just finished taping the 8th season of her Public Television Show Bake Decorate Celebrate!  She is host and executive producer.  Over 50,000 shows have aired since February 2006 in the US plus the show can be seen in 46 countries.  Check out the website for the show at

Robyn Flipse, MS, RD
Robyn Flipse was accepted to present a paper at the 17th Symposium on Australian Gastronomy sponsored by the Research Center for the History of Food and Drink in Adelaide, Australia on November 12-16, 2009. Her topic, "Language Barriers to Good Nutrition. An illustration of how terminology used in dietary guidance may impede selection of more healthful foods." During her trip "down under" she will tour many of the great vineyards in South Australia. (10/09)

Meredith Magnini, MS, RD
Meredith Magnini, MS, RD recently embarked on a new career as dietitian in the food industry. Formerly a clinical/community RD, she now works at Rich Products Corporation in Buffalo, NY as a Regulatory Specialist. She primarily works with the international team on regulatory issues. Not only has she been exposed to international culture, business, and food science and technology in her new career, her job also incorporates everything she loves, including tasting of all the products. Good luck to Meredith in her new endeavor!

Gita Patel, MS, RD, CDE, LD
Gita Patel, MS, RD, CDE, LD is a self-employed nutrition consultant, RD, and CDE in private practice. Gita was raised in a vegetarian family in India, and her first experiences with food involved health and medicine. If a child became ill, the answer came from the kitchen. At age 9, she realized her passion to understand the effects of food on the body, and she has followed that passion ever since. Gita has taught vegetarian cooking through many venues, including television, and helps those around her incorporate the health benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle into their own lives. She has recently written a book about the food practices of Asian Indians and the effect that herbs and spices used in their cooking have on blood glucose and lipid levels. In addition, she has contributed a chapter on metabolism to the Guide toWorld Nutrition and Health. Gita has also spoken for several associations on these topics, including the American Diabetes Association.

Jean Caton, MS, MBA, RD
Jean Caton can now add Business and Lifestyle Coach to her list of titles, with her recent graduation from the Advanced Coach Training Program at Coach U. Linda Arpino, MA, RD, CDN
